To my loyal & valued customers,
Just as a mayfly sheds itself of its exoskeleton during its transformation, I am removing the “cloak of covid” from my fly shop and officially opening back up on Wednesday, June 3rd. I will resume my normal hours of operation. Please respect everyone when you come in to the shop and wear your mask and try to allow sufficient physical distancing between yourself and other patrons. The stranglehold around my shop has been very challenging for everyone, especially all the clients who have called and come by only to find the shop shuttered.
The Squannacook and Nissitissit Rivers have started to recede to summer levels and that means we need to start looking at alternative geography to fish. This is where I come in. Some trophy rivers in Vermont are starting to heat up with fabulous fishing. The Millers Rivers in central Massachusetts has come down to very fishable levels. About 1 week ago the Shawsheen River was stocked again in Andover and Tewksbury. Up north in Pittsburgh, NH., the trophy section is fishing fantastic. The only caveat is that there are limited to no places to stay. Check the availability of lodging before venturing up there.
I would like to send a special “shout out” to Bob Wilson and Greg Swick as each of these men recently found rod and reel combos on the Nissitissit River and turned them into the shop. Through a series of events I was able to locate the rightful owners and get them back their precious gear. This is another reason why having a local fly shop is to invaluable to the fly fishing community. Thank you to both of these honest men!!
During the virus shutdown I have been fishing in lots of places and catching some large, angry trout. I can be “bought” so call the shop for details at a reasonable price!! He Haw!! I am leaving on Monday for a 2 day trip up north to fish for some large rainbows and browns. I will report on my “findings” at a later time. There are still plenty of fish to find. Get out and enjoy the beautiful places where trout live. You’ll be glad you did. Happy Father’s Day to all who qualify. Have a beer for me!
I have one remaining Hardy Rod left in the shop from the inventory reduction event. It is a 9 ft. 6 wt. Zephrus rod. Retail price $709 / Sale price $499.
Thank you for your support.

Internet Purchasing vs. ESFS Purchasing
When you take a look at the rewards program being offered and all the products I carry for your needs, it should become apparent that I’m trying to meet the needs of everyone in the fly fishing community.
Please look closely at the rewards program in conjunction with your purchase needs as I can confidently make the claim that with the rewards program the Evening Sun Fly Shop is the least expensive fly shop in America – Bar none!! There is no fly shop that I know or any conglomerate, mega box store that competes with my prices.
|Internet Purchasing||Evening Sun Purchasing|
|Can’t see or touch product||See, touch and feel before you buy|
|Often you pay for freight/shipping||No freight/shipping charges|
|No custom fitting on waders or boots, sunglasses or any item where sizing is critical||Try it on before you buy it. Sizing is critical to your purchase|
|Not usually a knowledgeable, trained person to talk to who has used the product(s)||Well skilled, trained people to talk to and explain your needs|
|Minimal if at all rewards program||A rewards program that yields up to 31% for your purchasing. Unheard of in the industry!!!|
These are at least 5 reasons to consider calling, stopping in, or e-mailing the shop before you CLICK the mouse. You will help to support a local business that truly cares for you as a client and you will pay no more and always get FREE shipping to your door. Please try us out!!
The classes/seminars/schools have been postponed for awhile. If you have $ with the shop and want it back, please don’t hesitate to call or email me for a refund. Many clients have told me to hold on to the $ until later. I will gladly do whatever you want.
So you think you know everything?
The ESFS will be running every month interesting factoids…

Recently a dear friend of mine left his hardy DD Titanium reel and line at the Squannacook River near Cherry Hill Ice Cream and Townsend Fire Dept. If you picked it up, please return it to the shop as there is a reward due to the finder. Ed G. will be indebted to you for your honesty. Please call the shop to return it for Ed. It was left at the route 119 parking lot across from Edward Road on Route 119.
