July 2019 Update

To my loyal & valued customers,  Happy 4th of July to all and your families. Our freedom as a nation cannot be understated! Thanks to all who have fought to make this country what it is today!!

The fly shop is playing CUPID! Want to fish new water? Want to find some new guys/woman to fish with? Want to do all this reasonably and not break the bank? Please e-mail the shop, call in or stop by to get your name on a list to fish with new friends, like-minded people who want to get away for 2-3 days where you can drive to your location and split the costs.

I frequently hear from folks that they don’t have anyone to fish with and would like to meet some people to share a day on the water with. Here’s your chance. There are many pristine places waiting for you to arrive. I really want to help you with this.

Thanks to everyone for supporting my shop and allowing me to be your areas “local” fly shop. I appreciate your loyalty and patronage. I would not be here without you.

Fish Hard, Fish Deep, Fish Often.
See you on the water,

Charlie Shadan

Rivers Report:

The area rivers are beginning to recede. The warm weather is on our doorstep(s). Get your piece of what is left out here and get on the rivers, streams, ponds, etc. before Mother Nature shuts off the opportunity.

The Nissitissit and Squannacook are still yielding some nice fish.

The Swift River is our area oasis, with cold, clean water, large salmon and rainbows, some brook trout being the order of the day.

The Millers River is coming down and is a solid place to spend a day. Check Ken Elmer’s blog https://millersriverflyfishingforum.blogspot.com/ for up to date info.

Up north the Waloomsac River in Bennington, VT. and the Black River in Weathersfield, VT. are places to catch large angry trout.

Pittsburgh, NH – The Connecticut River is on fire. Many large brook trout are being brought to net along with some fine rainbows and salmon.

Call the shop for details on any of these rivers. I recently spent 1 1/2 days on the Waloomsac River and netted 20+ Rainbows and Browns in the range of 14″ – 19″/ Luck was on my side.

Internet Purchasing vs. ESFS Purchasing

When you take a look at the rewards program being offered and all the products I carry for your needs, it should become apparent that I’m trying to meet the needs of everyone in the fly fishing community.

Please look closely at the rewards program in conjunction with your purchase needs as I can confidently make the claim that with the rewards program the Evening Sun Fly Shop is the least expensive fly shop in America – Bar none!! There is no fly shop that I know or any conglomerate, mega box store that competes with my prices.

These are at least 5 reasons to consider calling, stopping in, or e-mailing the shop before you CLICK the mouse. You will help to support a local business that truly cares for you as a client and you will pay no more and always get FREE shipping to your door. Please try us out!!

The ESFS will be running every month interesting factoids…..

Fireworks were first used to celebrate July Fourth in 1777. Congress chose fireworks as a way to celebrate the first anniversary. They were ignited over Philadelphia. The celebration also included bonfires and bells.

Millers River maps

Finally in. Come and take a look at the latest & greatest map created by the shop for this river.

Squannacook and Nissitissit maps

Get your map of the local rivers – the Squannacook & Nissitissit that I created in the store. 700+ copies have already sold to date. These maps will make great gifts.

Good News: Lost & Found Items

The two fly boxes that were found on the Nissitissit River were reunited with their rightful owner. Thanks to John A. for bringing them in. This is a good example of a fly fisherman being honest and empathetic to other fly people. It is nice to have a local fly shop to assist in recovery efforts.

Still looking for the owner of a net and lanyard that were turned into the shop’s “Lost & Found” dept. Come in or call and identify your items and we will be more than happy to reunite you with your possessions.
