January 2019 Update

To my loyal & valued customers,
Happy New Year to everyone and your families.

Seems like we were just “gearing up” for Thanksgiving & Christmas. Wow, it really does seem like the acceleration of time is a reality. Does anyone else feel the same about time?

Hopefully, our winter remains somewhat tame as far as snow is concerned. Wet is ok but snow should be reserved for the high country and its skiers and snowboarders.

I’ve been told that it is just weird of me to ask for flying insects and bugs in the air. Bring those hungry fish and bugs on ASAP. Running water, bugs inhabiting the water, and cooperative fish are signs of “our season”.

Start tying those flies, cleaning your fly lines, checking for wader leaks and going over your spring needs as it will be upon us in no time.

Come into the shop and see a selection of new fly lines, reels, waders, rain jackets and wading boots for an upgrade to your old worn pieces of equipment.

Reports at the shop have been very positive about the Nissitissit and Squannacook rivers producing some nice fish thru December.

January is starting off somewhat mild so steal a day and hook a few fish before the temperature turns too brutal. The 4 rivers in southeastern NH — Lamprey, Cocheco, Isinglass, and Exeter are producing some nice fish.

The Swift River in Belchertown is at record levels but still producing some outsize salmon as well as stellar rainbow trout. The brookies have dropped off some but there are still a few to surprise an angler.

Catch a moderate Day and ride the wave! “Fish Deep” — “Fish Hard” — “Fish Often” and remember “You don’t need a tee time to fish”

Please take note of all the NEW Dates for all the classes and seminars being offered during the early part of the year. Sign up for one of the classes and sharpen your skills to help your catch rate. Make this the year you devote some time to improving your fly fishing skill set.

See you on the water,
Charlie Shadan

Internet Purchasing vs. ESFS Purchasing

When you take a look at the rewards program being offered and all the products I carry for your needs, it should become apparent that I’m trying to meet the needs of everyone in the fly fishing community.

Please look closely at the rewards program in conjunction with your purchase needs as I can confidently make the claim that with the rewards program the Evening Sun Fly Shop is the least expensive fly shop in America – Bar none!! There is no fly shop that I know or any conglomerate, mega box store that competes with my prices.
