December 2019 Update

To my loyal & valued customers,

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all and your families as well. I hope you get to share the season with your loved ones from near and far. Make a memory!

When you wake up tomorrow the ground will probably be white from the seasons’ first snowfall. Cherish the beauty from a freshly fallen shroud of snow.

If you are a snow enthusiast “your season” has arrived. For me it means fires in the fireplace, ramping up my fly tying and attending fly shows.

The shops’ annual Holiday Cheer Day will be held on December 15th at the shop. Please come by for some good food, holiday music, warm and cold drinks and a chance to see people that you haven’t had a moment to “catch up with”.

Pop in even for 10 minutes say hello, grab a bite and be on your way. It’s Party Time at the Evening Sun Fly Shop.

If you’re asked what you want for a gift this season – I’ll make it easy. Tell that person to get you a gift certificate from Evening Sun Fly Shop. This will allow you to pick out exactly what you want from a vast array of choices.

I’ve had the distinct pleasure of helping you make solid choices with your fly fishing purchases for the last 13 years. Thank you to all and from me and my family a heartfelt Thank You.

I would not be here without your loyalty and support. Your local fly shop wants to be your favorite place to further your knowledge, gather info, advance your skills and provide you with a resource that adds value to your endeavor of fly fishing.

Merry Christmas,
Charlie Shadan

November 2019 Update

To my loyal & valued customers,

Looking for some “spooky” fish? How about giving the Nissitissit or Squannacook a look. The rivers in southeastern NH have all been stocked with OUTSIZE fish! They are the Lamprey, Cocheco, Isinglas, and Exeter rivers.

I’m heading to the Waloomsac River in Vermont on Monday or Tuesday to fish for wary browns and rainbows that have been in the water since May – they should be real “spooky”!

The waters are waiting, the fish are waiting – What are you waiting for?

Just back from a trip to New Mexico to fish the fabled San Juan River. This is a river you have to fish, sometime before you “hang up your spurs”. Wow, all that was there were big, angry fish. I hate it when that happens.

The shop is loaded with new items. There are large amounts of new waders and boots, volumes of new Croakies and sunglasses as well as fitovers for your prescription glasses. All sorts of new reels and accessories.

Don’t forget to respond to the inquiries that come at Christmas by saying ‘Get me a gift certificate from Evening Sun Fly Shop’. That way you can get what you want to enhance your fishing pleasure. The shop has a lot to offer.

I’d venture to say that it is as well-stocked as any fly shop you will enter. Come give us an opportunity to excel at what we try to do best – that is “Service your needs professionally, accurately with always you in mind”.

Remember, you don’t need a tee time to fish. Fish Hard, Fish Deep, Fish Often. See you on the water.

Regards, Charlie Shadan

October 2019 Update

To my loyal & valued customers,

Pumpkins, Mums, cooler temps, and diminished humidity – all signs that fall is here. Fishing in our area rivers should pick up as the fall stocking is underway. The Nissitissit River was stocked on 9/27/19 with brows and rainbows and the Squannacook will not be far behind.

Are your waders ready to be worn? Are you wading boots hurting your feet? Does your net have holes in it that shouldn’t be there? These are signs to you that it may be time for a visit to the Evening Sun Fly Shop.

Come in and see the line up of impressive new Korkers boots, rubber nets, and Redington waders. While we are on the subject of waders, select Redington waders Sonic Pro and Sonic Pro HD are $100.00 off the list price as I make room for new styles.

Beginner fly tying classes are starting the 1st week of November. Call or e-mail the shop for details.

Grab a day real soon and come out and enjoy a day on the river. It will be “a battery charger” for your soul. Now is time to make the resolution that it is just as easy to say yes as to say no to a day on the water.

Fish Hard, Fish Deep, Fish Often. See you on the water.
Regards, Charlie Shadan

June 2019 Update

To my loyal & valued customers,

The weather has been kind and refreshing for our area rivers. Our season has been extended into mid/late June because of the constant rainfall. We have been blessed with Mother Nature depositing her excess moisture upon us. Hurrah!!

Our local waters have plenty of fish in them as I have had 15-20 guided trips with clients and almost all have caught fish. Rainbows, Browns, and Brookies have been stocked for your enjoyment.

If you have not gotten out yet – What are you waiting for? The weather is great, work still sucks, and yard work will be there when you arrive back home!! Get the message. Say yes to your favorite stream, pack a lunch, go with a buddy and have a “fishy” good time. “Remember you don’t’ need a tee time to fish.”

ATTENTION: Happy Fathers’ Day — June 16th. The shop will be closing at 12:00 noon on Fathers’ Day – My family has plans for me!! Hee Haw!

New Korkers boots are flying off the shelf. They are the most comfortable boots for all-day wear. Do your feet a favor and surround them in comfort. You’ll be happy you did.

The shop is loaded with new waders, reels, fly lines, and rods. Come in to see the new line-ups of all these items.

That’s it for this edition of Fish Hard, Fish Deep, Fish Often!
See you on the water,

Charlie Shadan

May 2019 Update

To my loyal & valued customers,

I hope everyone had a relaxing and bountiful Easter with your family. My understanding is that the pigs and lambs were running scared!

The Squannacook and Nissitissit Rivers were stocked on 4/8 and 4/9 respectively with about 900+ rainbows for each river. The fish range in size from 12-15″ and are brightly colored and have not missed many meals at the hatchery. ‘Get ’em before the herons do’!

All remaining classes for the spring schedule are SOLD OUT!

Watch for new classes at the shop as you never know what might pop up.

The Deerfield and Swift Rivers have been stocked with some healthy fish. They are worth a day trip. The Millers River is “blown out” with all the recent rains.

Follow Ken Elmer’s blog —https://millersriverflyfishingforum.blogspot.com/ for up to date info on the Millers.

In southeastern NH, there are 4 rivers that all have holdovers and recently stocked fish. I have 1st hand knowledge that the Exeter River has holdover rainbows and some brookies and browns for you to poke with some sharp objects.

Reminder: If you need new comfortable, adaptable wading boots, come see the lineup of Korkers boots in the shop. The shop is fully loaded with waders of all types. Come in and see what’s new. —Fish Hard, Fish Deep, Fish Often —

Always remember that ‘You don’t need a tee time to fish’. See you on the water,

April 2019 Update

To my loyal & valued customers,

Welcome to our “unofficial start” of our season. By that I mean the stoneflies are omni-present at the shop as well as on the water. Most if not all of the vestiges of our snow has melted and the stocking trucks are rolling. Need more proof?

The streams and rivers have held up well thru the winter with many holdover trout having been caught throughout the cold months.

The Deerfield has been stocked to some degree and the ponds are getting their share as of this writing. We are blessed to have such a diverse choice of places to “wet a line” in Massachusetts.

For those not aware, President Trump recently signed into law the Wild and Scenic Designation for the Nashua, Squannacook and Nissitissit Rivers. A very huge win for all of us along these rivers. Federal money, conservation projects and long term protection of our valuable waterways are intended consequences! Wow! Wow! Wow! I’ll keep you informed of future proceedings involving this historic piece of local legislation.

The shop will be closed Easter Sunday, April 21st. Please enjoy your Easter Sunday with family and friends.

—Fish Hard, Fish Deep, Fish Often —

Thanks to all for your support. See you on the water,
Charlie Shadan
