August 2019 Update

To my loyal & valued customers,

The water temps are closely resembling the air temps on our area streams and rivers. Fishing has slowed down most places except for the Swift and Deerfield.

The Farmington in Connecticut is also worth a days’ trip as nice browns and rainbows are being netted daily. The flows on the Swift River are really engaging as they hover between 50-100 CFS daily.

It is truly our summertime oasis! Reports of 8-12 fish per day are not uncommon from many of the seasoned anglers who visit the river weekly.

Come get your share of fun, and poke a few nice fish as you leave your cares where they belong when you fish — Behind you!!

I’m just back from a short trip to Montana on the Bighorn River in Fort Smith. We had to employ the use of drift boats for 3+ days as the water was 9500 CFS. A good flow is 3000+ CFS.

The boat got us to great spots where we could anchor and fish in some knee-deep water. There were 4 of us on the trip and I can safely say over the duration of our trip we hooked/netted over 200+ fish with none smaller than 15″. The largest and there were many this size was 19″. Browns and Rainbows were the order of the day. What a trip!!

Don’t forget about the Evening Sun partnering program at the shop. We are bringing together people to fish with new friends in all sorts of new places. Sign up with the shop to meet new people to fish with like-minded anglers. Call or e-mail if you want to join a group of people interested in fishing and going places with new folks. I really would like to help so feel free to sign up and join the group.

Great to be a small part of your fly fishing experience. See you at the shop and thank you.

Fish Hard, Fish Deep, Fish Often.
See you on the water,

Charlie Shadan

The shop has over 25 nets available for anyone interested in upgrading their worn, outdated net. Most of these nets have a rubber bag which helps with releasing the fish unharmed as well as freeing up your hooks from the netting.

All waders in the shop are going on sale to make room for new styles. The sale starts August 1st and runs thru September 30th. Save as much as $100.00 on selected pairs of Redington Waders. I have worn Redington waders for 4 years and they have been trouble-free. Come in to see the lineup of waders and save some cash.

Korkers, Korkers, Korkers — the most comfortable and adaptive wading boots on the market. The shop is fully stocked with all the sizes and styles. Come see for yourself.

The latest in Ross Reels have arrived at the shop – made in America with stellar technology and lifetime guarantee. There are over 75 reels in the shop for you to look over.

Rivers Report:

Pittsburgh, NH – Home of the trophy stretch on the Connecticut River is also producing nice size Brookies, Browns, Rainbows and Salmon.

Below Murphy Dam is also yielding some very large Browns. Below Murphy’s is clear cold water and a haven for some surprisingly large fish.

As you can see there are still places to have a great time and all you need is the inspiration to travel there and have yourself a day or two to remember. Get out and make a memory!

Internet Purchasing vs. ESFS Purchasing

When you take a look at the rewards program being offered and all the products I carry for your needs, it should become apparent that I’m trying to meet the needs of everyone in the fly fishing community.

Please look closely at the rewards program in conjunction with your purchase needs as I can confidently make the claim that with the rewards program the Evening Sun Fly Shop is the least expensive fly shop in America – Bar none!! There is no fly shop that I know or any conglomerate, mega box store that competes with my prices.

Millers River maps

Finally in. Come and take a look at the latest & greatest map created by the shop for this river.

Squannacook and Nissitissit maps

Get your map of the local rivers – the Squannacook & Nissitissit that I created in the store. 700+ copies have already sold to date. These maps will make great gifts.

Good News: Lost & Found Items

The two fly boxes that were found on the Nissitissit River were reunited with their rightful owner. Thanks to John A. for bringing them in. This is a good example of a fly fisherman being honest and empathetic to other fly people. It is nice to have a local fly shop to assist in recovery efforts.

Still looking for the owner of a net and lanyard that were turned into the shop’s “Lost & Found” dept. Come in or call and identify your items and we will be more than happy to reunite you with your possessions.
